Dio concert review; March 17th, 1997 by Michael Kunz

The following is a review of a Dio show on the second leg of Angry Machines European tour, originally mailed to me. Republished here with permission from the author. I had to edit the layout a little bit for better outlook on web, but all the information is still intact.

support band Rough Silk from Germany. They weren't bad at all although I knew none of their songs. Sounding a bit like the classic Helloween...

Then Dio hit the stage:

Excellent beginning of the gig. The crowd just went nuts. Now I'm not sure about the order of the songs any more. another new one which I couldn't recognize Encore: Then the band disappeared again, only to come back and play Then the band disappeared again, only to come back and play

I don't know whether this last one was planned or whether it was due to the fact that the audience continued to shout for Dio demanding another song.

Anyway, the gig was f***ing brilliant. The only negative thing in my very personal view was that drum, bass and guitar solo (yet not bad) could have been replaced by more songs, e.g. from the Dehumanizer album.
