FAQ: Backward Maskings

There are two backward maskings on the Dio albums. The clearest one is in the end of Shame Of The Night that says "Crucify The Diver." It is quite tricky one, as the "Crucify" part is backwards and then "The Diver" is there just normally. To confuse things a bit, there are some extra grumbles too. The interpretations have varied from "Early risers are crucified" to "I am the crucified", so this hasn't been too easy one to spot.

Other possible backward maskings might be in the song Egypt (The Chains Are On) off The Last In Line album and in Like The Beat Of A Heart off Sacred Heart. The Sacred Heart one can be heard from 3.39 to 3.42 and a couple of seconds after that.
