The band got a record deal from Carrere after a long search and right after the release of their first album Electra wanted them The band played its final concert on July 30th, 1988, worked on a live album in the Autumn 1988 and finally announced break-up in March, 1989.

Dokken reformed in late 1994. The reformed band's first album, Maze, was first meant to be released only in Japan, but the band got a record deal from Columbia Records in USA and released Maze remixed with two new songs there too. They toured in Japan in February-March 1995 and had several dates in USA in February-April 1995, scheduled a lenghty tour in the USA in summer of 1995.
